I've just picked up a 2005 348V with a Kohler 5kw Generator. The generator only has 3 hrs on it. While it did start, I have to image the old gasoline has severly vanished up the fuel system.

Short of a new carb/rebuild (which may happen anyway), does anyone have a recommendation on fuel treatments that could clean the fuel system?

If its as bad as you say, no fuel additive will clean it up, you must pull part and soak carb in cleaner and reinstall. Use fuel additive to prevent future issues.

You didn't say - is it running badly?

The generator started very very hard but it eventually fired. I only had time to run it for a few minutes so I really can't say if its running poorly yet.

I am travelling for business for another month so I've been virtual boating on the forums. I'm hoping to gather enough information from the community so I can tackle several issue (hopefully all small) when I return in June.

I'm guessing I'm going to have to rebuild the carb.

You might, but if it was mine I'd fill it with gas that's known to be fresh, make sure the plug's in good shape and correctly gapped, clean air filter, etc., then run it for a couple hours before deciding to tear into it. Maybe spray a little Gumout and put some Gumout in the gas too.
