I purchased this boat late last year, I was doing some spring cleaning in the engine bay, I noticed that the blower hoses were not there, just the blower itself, my question is where do these go? I assume the two rear vents somehow vent the gases. I am not sure which vent goes to what. When I bought this boat last year I took it out one time and blower turned on fine, I never gave it a second thought about the hoses not being there, a pic would be helpful but not neccesay. Thanks in advance

I believe the vent on the starboard side serves only as an intake and the blower is ducted only to the vent on the port side.

Here's a pic, I assume most Horizon installations are similar. The large black hoses in the picture's right side are the blower intakes. The ends just open up to free air in the bottom of the bilge, where fumes would theoretically settle.

Mike,

That is a seriously clean engine compartment. I cleaned mine today, it looks nothing like that !

One observation; from when I fitted mine ( non dry powder one), it was recommended that the extinguisher should be fitted so it points downwards.

You would expect anything less from our Mike

Confessions of a driveway boater: that pic was taken the day the boat was delivered; the engine had 2 hours on it. :D

Now it just has a layer of dust on it.

I'll look into the fire extenguisher... it was installed that way at the factory, but you know how that is.

Jerry,

Sounds like your boat is still under warranty, why not have the dealer fix it?

Did not know the warranty was that long

Ok, my bad, warranty is not 7 years. Just to make it unanimous, my blower also blows out the port exhaust vent. I would think the intake should be positioned close to the bilge, facing the bilge, but not where it could get wet or splashed like Mike's pic shows. Fumes sink. Not sure what the mounting of the end of intake is like (boat's in storage). You may need to screw or epoxy a zip tie mount there. When securing wire runs for stereo upgrades, I've had pretty good luck with afixing mounts with 5 min epoxy - and that's mounting them 'up' against the force of gravity rather than 'down' to the engine compartment deck.

I fixed it this weekend, I put the blower outlet to the port side rear vent, and put a fresh air hose from the starboard side rear vent to the engine compartment not too low about 1/2 way up the block.
