| Post subject: | Steering wheel click and shake |
Sometimes when starting the engine the steering wheel will shake back and forth maybe a half inch in each direction making a clicking sound. It never seems to happen after it has run for a few minutes and goes away if I move the wheel a few inches in either direction. I cannot figure out what it causing it. Any ideas? |

This happens to me if I put the boat in gear while the lower unit is trimmed up a bit. Not sure why but it never happens when the lower unit is all the way down. Scared me to death the first time it happened. 98 Horizon w/5.7 GSi |

It only happens to me when it is in neutral, and it doesn't happen all the time. |

Glad to hear that it wasnt just me, mine did that last Sunday (in neutral with trim up pretty high). I initially thought we were bouncing on the sandy bottom, we were in about 3 foot of water and idleing back out. (98 245 Sundowner,SX- 5.7 gsi) |
