Overall, I am very happy with my 2005 298 Vista. However, the generator has always been unpredictable. The marina that takes care of my boat and is a Kohler certified service center has finally identified the issue as related to an unstable grounding of the unit. Apparently, the Genset controls are grounded thru the shore power and the 12 volt control panel are grounded to the shore power as well. There is a combining of the ground for both the AC & DC system. In fact, ny genset is always reliable if the shore power cord is plugged in even with the AC power on-- clearly indicating that this is a grounding issue. Of course, there is little utility to a generator that is most reliable when the boat is hooked up to shore power. Has anybody had similar issues with the grounding. Any recommendations. Thanks |
