We were on the lake Friday early evening when a massive storm came upon us. We're talking pea sized hail here people. It poured rain pretty hard. After the storm passed we went back to the marina and pulled the boat out. The next day it ran great until lunch. After we ate lunch the boat didn't want to run.

It would start and bog right out. So I put it in neutral and gave it 1/2 throttle. This got the boat to start but it would sputter, and pop and then rev out. This happened a couple more times throughout the day. It acted as though the distributor was wet but it doesn't quite add up. Why would it work fine right after the storm? Fine the next morning? Any ideas what that could have been?

It could be a water in the fuel, tracking of the distributor cap, condenser, coil, etc. I'm betting on bad fuel. Did you fill it up right before lunch or were you running on gas that was in there from the previous day?

I had an OMC do this once and never really figured it out except I think it was the fuel. I had just filled it up that morning. After I put some gas dry in it I didn't have any more problems. Maybe some of the other guy on here can help out.

I did not fill up that morning. I filled up before launch on day one and was at about 1/2 tank after lunch (day 2) when it first happened. I didn't change the fuel/water separator filter this year, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
