Has anyone had any experience adding a captains call exhaust to a Horizon 180? I replaced the old 5.0 305 with a 350 last year, and I would like to be able to hear it sometimes. |

Not a clue if it will work for your boat, but you could start with some reading here: http://www.corsaperf.com/marine.htm if you haven't already. Good luck...... |

Howdy, Captains Call is fairly easy to install. You only have to cut the holes, install the thru-hulls, connect the hoses and wire it all up. Not a big deal. It's fairly expensive to buy new (look on ebay for a used set up to find it for less) Never-the-less it's pretty expensive. You won't get much if any performance increase and your passengers will always be telling you to "SWITCH IT BACK! SWITCH IT BACK!" ![]() When I pulled the OMC 460 and replaced it with the Merc 454, I didn't re-install the CC. I have it in a box now.....I still haven't decided if I am ever going to use it....If I did not have it I wouldn't go out and buy one though. Regards, Rick |

If you just want to hear it, you could replace the exhaust bellows type that are attached to both the transom and the outdrive to the stub type that are only attached to the transom; Much noisier with even the slightest hint of outdrive trim, especially if the noise can reverberate under an extended swim platform. So much so that I am thinking of retrofitting the quieter type to my boat next winter! Graham |

I thought getting Captain's Call on my boat was imperative after hearing it on a buddy's boat. Now that I have it I leave it off 99% of the time. I only turn it on for 2 reasons: 1. To show my guy friends how badass it sounds. 2. To grow some more hair on my chest. After those 2 are accomplished, it goes right back to the quiet setting. I wouldn't waste the $$$ or go through the hassle of cutting up your boat for this. |

+1. I have it and love the sound. I do however, understand that most people find it obnoxious and I leave it off much of the time. Actually, most times that I do have it open is at idle - I love the burble burble and the water spitting out of the tips just like a real go-fast; and it's not reverberating over the whole lake like that. Instead put $1k into a nice stereo upgrade and buy one of those Thru-Hull sounds cds. You'll have enough left over for something else you'd really like and you'll tier of the CD as fast as you would the real thing. I get that most regard it as kinda like putting headers & cherry bombs on your Caprice - doesn't make me like it any less though. In the future I think if a boat had it - fine. I wouldn't make a point of ordering it again though. |
