My boat came new with a 21 pitch aluminum prop. I put a SS 21 pitch and it did not plane off as well nor perform as well. I sent it back. What props are others using and what sort of performance are you getting? |

The way I was told and understand it is that if you go to a SS prop from aluminum, you have to drop the pitch by 2, so in your case you should go to a 19 pitch. This is to compensate for the lack of flex in the SS prop that you get in an aluminum prop. |

I use a High Five SS on my boat and it performs awsome. I was initialy worried about losing top end with the five blade but as it turns out i am still able to hit 48 mph a WOT in calm water, faster if there is some chop. As far is the pitch of the blade I have to admit I am not sure what it is, I let the dealer decide on that. The whole shot and mid range perfomance is incredible, planing in about three seconds and hitting 40 mph in under ten. This is with a 5.0L 220 hp Mercruiser. The mid range was a little touchy and took some getting used to but well worth the effort. I would highly reccomend this prop if you do any towing. This prop also bites in turns like as if there was a monorail under the boat. The best part is my buddies Baja Islander cant keep up!!! |
