Had our 2007 H190 V6 winterized yesterday and the dealer indicated he thinks we need a new water pump. Said it seemed to cool alright but the flow was not what he would like to see. I've never had a cooling issue. The boat is three summers old with 60 hours on it. Why in the world would it need a new pump? |

Is he talking about the raw water impeller? I would assume so....and I would be with him on this....3 years old...probably a good time to do it. I am a nazi about it and replace every year in the spring. I know its overkill....but better safe than sorry. |

Hopefully, if he means the raw water pump it's only the impellor that needs changing; the whole pump is expensive! I change the impellor on mine every 2 years ( I now have 3 spare, used ones in the boat that look brand new, plus the tools/ spare hardware to change the impellor out on the water, should one ever fail !). If the flow from the raw water pump is lower than expected, I'd have thought damage to the impellor vanes would have been obvious when it was removed for the winterising ( the impellor shouldn't be left in there unused over the winter even if the pumpis full of antifreeze, as the vanes can develop a "set") . A reduced level of water coming out of the exhaust/ outdrive can be caused by blockages in the manifolds, risers as well as due to the pump. The engine recirculation pumps usually indicate they are failing by starting to leak water out of the weephole on the underside. Graham |

So after talking to the actual tech who worked on my boat and not his assistnat turns out i do need an impellor kit not a new circ pump.....60.00 and I will install it in the spring. whew! |

Had the old impellor started to break up ?; if so, the bits may be wedged up somewhere like the thermostat. Graham |
