Post subject:  Water pump on the way out???

Yesterday I ran the engine in the driveway on muffs for the purpose of getting fuel stabilizer and the freshly changed oil thoughout the engine. (Still might get out another day before winterization) It seemed to take about 30-40 seconds for water to make its way through the engine, as though the passages are clogged or the water pump isn't working properly. When the water did finally come back out, I swear there was less water output than usual. The last time out we had to come into the marina during a ridiculously low tide. I'm sure a sucked some junk up along the way. The boat ran for 15 -20 minutes and seemed to run a tad warmer than usual. (160 vs 150 deg) The waterpump itself was replaced last year (not the lower unit impeller) and the lower unit is on the to do list. I bumped the throttle up to 2000 rpm for a few seconds and the temp immediately dropped. Any thoughts, suggestions or am I worrying about nothing??????

I'd change the impeller....you're lucky the Cobra has about the easiest to change impeller there is...I have done mine a few times and it takes all of 1/2 hr....change the whole thing while you are at it...housing wear plate etc...just make sure you get the gasket in place right around the housing....
