Anyone know if there is an after market FWC kit for a factory genset application? How are the ocean series boats with a factory genset plumbed for cooling? If the genset does not have FWC, how do they stand up running in a "salty" environment?

With the exception of the exhaust manifolds, I believe they are FWC. The Ocean drives are not FWC at the exhaust manifolds either.

I'll rephrase my question; what I am asking is how are the factory generators cooled? I assume they use raw water and a raw water pump to cool. How do they stand up in salt water? Is there an after market fresh water cooling system for the generator? Could the generator cooling be tied into the FWC system on the main engine if so equipped?

I'm hoping this means you found a boat!

The Kohler 5E from the factory has a closed cooling system. The freshwater comes up from a thru hull fitting, through a strainer, then into a heat exhanger, and then out via the exhaust. I haven't heard of anyone in salt water having an issue with it.

Pretty simple and straight forward system, and easy to winterize.

Sounds like a good deal. I paid 41 for my '04.

On the job, dead in the water right now. All gov't here is broke! Fortunatly the private sector is doing great.
