Post subject:  Cobra SX oil Leak

Last week I removed the outdrive to grease the U-Joints and G bearing. I removed the prop and greased the spline, drained the gear oil. Put everything together. Replaced the prop. Lowered the drive to fill with oil. Filled the outdrive to spec. Replaced new drain plugs. Today I noticed gear oil dripping / bleeding from the bottom prop area. It appears to be coming from the carrier. The drive sat about a week without oil in it. My question is, Can the “O” rings shrink or crack if no oil is in the drive for that length of time? If it is O rings or seals is it a DYI job?

Sounds like a leaky shaft seal. I've never replaced one. I'm going to guess that it's a job for a pro as special tools will most likely be needed.

That's what I thought. Strange, but the drive never gave me any problems. Think I'll let it go till the spring.
Thanks for your responce.
