On the subject of overheating. As the subject line says it certainly appears as if the Corsa cutouts have been overheated. Running in the water they are cool to the touch. The engine has 45hours and I have never overheated it. I do not use muffs while running the engine on the hard. I have a large container to submerse the outdrive in, works like a charm.

I was present when the dealership fired the boat up for the first time, they missed covering up the low water water pickup at the front of the B1. I wonder if this could have caused the problem, they may also be missing it at winterizing. I swear I can see melted rubber at the exhaust crossover between the 2 cutouts.

A little exhaust still exits the thru hull while at idle, there is a definite difference tho when you open them up.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Greg

Thanks. We have a noise bylaw that has been overlooked in the past. But now the local gendarmes are starting to enforce it. This past weekend was our long weekend and apparently 6 SS boaters were stopped for noise violations (including 2 off duty cops apparently). Don't know how many were warned or how many fined. Our local dealer is warning customers to be careful. Some have had the cutouts disconnected, I have unplugged mine. The fine can be $500.00. The fact that they are installed on the boat and are functional is reason enough to warrant a fine.

I am going to look into mufflers to make me legal, maybe a set of CMI headers too!

Greg

WOW - that's totally nuts.....having them installed on your boat warrants a fine??? even if they are not turned on!!! Glad i don't live in CA and have to deal with those nuts. Yes you get some rumble when they are turned off, but nothing much at all. They need to find something else to waste their time with. I would not plug and alter anything.....just pull the fuse on the Captains Call accessorie switch and that makes it non-functional right?

Having Captains Call exhaust/thru hull and not engaging it and still being fined for having the ability is insane....kind of like ticketing you for having the ability to speed on the freeway even though you are going the speed limit...or....arresting their own mother for prostitution since she has the necessary equipment.. Simple solution - move to Texas where at least there is still some resemblence of common sense.

Some news on this, apparently the exhaust tips provide by Corsa include baffling that meets the letter of the law. Apparently Corsa, Four Winns and the dealers are working on proving that this is so.

According to my dealer, the Ontario Provincial Police have been having meetings to determine how to enforce the law. Too bad they didn't do that first.
