I am a first time boat owner. How do I figure out the manufacturer and size of the engine in the boat I just bought? It is a 1994 Four Winns Horizon 210 I/O. The manual and the web site say is is either a 5.0 liter or 5.8 liter EFI. I have never heard of EFI. The motor does not have any markings on it where it should and I can't find any others. |

Hey Neal, I can answer the easy one...EFI stands for electronic fuel injection. As for which make and size engine that you have, all I would know to do is check the papers you should have gotten with the boat or submit your hull number to Four Winns and maybe they still have records of what was installed. |

You have to determine if it's an OMC or Merc drive and then take the engine serial # to a dealer and they can tell you what engine it is. Most likely an OMC and the 5.0 or 5.8 could be a Ford engine (Fords have the distributor in the front of the engine...Chevy had the dist in the rear)....if it's a 5.0 it could be either Ford (302 cu in) or Chevy (305 cu in) but 5.8 was a Ford for sure (Chevy in that size was a 5.7). for those of us from the cubic inches era 5.8 liters=351 cu in 5.7 liters=350 cu in 5.0 liters=302 cu in |
