Hi... recently bought a used Candia 180 deck boat with an outboard. The stickers (and verbal confirmation from the seller) suggest the outboard is 1995 Mercury 150 Xri Black Max. However, the serial number on the lower unit comes back as a 1992 175 hp XL. When I pull the hood, there is a hand written marking saying "150 EFI", but I cannot find any other serial number stamp to help clarify what I actually have under the hood! I called a local dealer who called Mercury and they are only going off the lower unit stamp. They also said that some people swap the lower unit, etc so it's possible these won't match. Help! Thanks! |

I had similar issues with my outdrive (due to being painted over). I wrote to Four Winn's customer service, provided my hull number and they sent me the serial numbers, make, model, series for what the boat was built with. Give'em a shout. |

I've found that is the cool thing about F/W. They keep RECORDS!!!!! How many others do that??? Try to get records for a 10 year old S/R......You can't. |
