Post subject:  Draining the outdrive
I have an H203 with the 5.0 volvo penta setup. For the life of me I can't find the drain on the outdrive. Wanting to do this myself instead of paying the dealer to change the oil and drive 450 smackers. Gotta cut cost in this economy. Can someone point me in the right direction?

If it's a duoprop, you have to take the props off; you'll then see the drain plug below the driveshaft; it needs a 5/16" or 8mm hex driver to remove it, it seals with an "O" ring that should be replaced. Hopefully the prop and shaft splines have been well greased or else the props might be difficult to get off.

Not a Duo drive just a single. The prop gets pulled about every 12 hours or so and greased and fishing line checked... :lol: I have never seen a drain plug and fill plug there.

The SX diagrams I have seen show it to be on the port side, in the lower side "bullet" just above the skeg; ahead of the water inlets on early ones, in line wth the water inlets on later ones.

+1. When you raise your drive up, you should be able to see it. On mine it looks like a big ol' round-headed bolt that you need a big-ass flat-head screwdriver to remove. And either an impact driver or tap the end of the screwdriver with a hammer as your are trying to apply torque to unscrew it.

What year is your drive? On the newer units, it is behind the prop as well.
