I have a 2000 5.7 Liter GSI that I am pretty sure i burned out one if not both of the fuel pumps. I pulled them off and they both say "hi pressure" on them and have the following numbers "283 3169A & 282 3019A" does anyone have any idea were i could find replacement fuel pumps for these? I am not really interested in calling volvo and paying dealer prices. I have seen some posts in the past that showed a sierra brand but i have had no luck in finding these. Thanks for any input.

My last boat, I took the OMC pump and replace with a Holley impeller style, but this was for a carb equipt motor. OMC pump $300 +, went thru 3 pumps one summer. Holley $125 and lasted many years.

I do not know of an after market high pressure pump replacement. Would search for cheapest supplier of Volvo parts?!?!?

So far it looks like i have to replace the entire assemply that both pumps are mounted to. The original part is a Carter pump assembly #3860210 and it has a replacement number with volvo of #3594444 or #21545138. I just find it hard to believe that i cant just replace the pumps and keep the housing. Still trying. If anyone has any info on where to find pumps that can fit the original housing I will be in their debt! Thanks for looking.

I replaced mine with Sierra pumps and they have been fine. I took the part number and simply went online and bought them. One of them came from Amazon.

just wondering what symptoms your boat was having that told you your fuel pumps were bad? I've been having issues that i believe may be due to bad fuel pump(s). MY boat will almost get on plane then one of the injectors cuts off. After this happened a few times the breaker on the low pressure fuel pump began tripping. I had to limp the boat home by bypassing the breakers and cooling the pump with ice.

Ive been seeing lots of fuel pump posts so I thought I may provide some insight of a dealer...

On VP motors, the fuel injected ones have 2 pumps, a lot pressure on top of the filter and a high pressure that is part of the rear reservoir. 90% of the time when the pumps are the actual issue the low pressure will go way before the high. However, much of the time the pumps are not the problem. I would suggest starting with plugged or restricted fuel pickups or antisiphon valves at the gas tank. Drain your fuel filter and look for debris. Screaming fuel pumps are a sign of not enough fuel and restricted flow. If the high pressure pump screams its likely the reservoir isnt getting enough fuel for some reason, maybe the low pressure pump or look inside the reservoir. It has a float, needle and seat just like a carb that controls fuel flow into it. When you pull the cap off you will need a new gasket, or get a reservoir kit with a gasket, float and needle/seat assy. Any decent VP dealer will have them in stock. If a fuse keeps blowing on the low pressure side likely cause is bad windings in the pump.

I do highly recommend against aftermarket pumps, they dont seem to last unless you get a decent one, Sierra is not decent its junk. Holley does make some decent stuff. Whatever you get you need to make sure it is a USCG approved marine pump for your own safety and to avoid a big fat fine if you ever get inspected.
