I was wondering if there was a specific Brand of gasoline everyone was using based on the higher prices of gas, questions on ethonal, quality, and just better overall?

I tried to add all of the Brands I could think of and sorry if I added a company that is owned by another one on the list.

Have bought from Phillips 66 exclusively for over 20 years now. They're now owned by Conoco. I've begun to question some of their business practices and corporate ethics in recent years, and probably would be willing to switch to another company if not for the fact that they're on every corner in this region.

As to their gas, I've seen evidence over many years of use (including in torn-down engines) that theirs is outstanding. However, I also know that their gas comes from the same distribution tanks as everyone else's around here.

Amen, no to Citgo!! I have a BP charge card that gives 5% rebate, so it's my first choice.

I have been a mechanic for 12 years and unless you have pinging or contamination it doesnt matter. But I do always recomend putting a bottle of techron in every now and then.

Most of the gasoline in the US comes from refineries in the US. There are a handful of refineries that are owned by a few oil companies. The gasoline is transported from refineries to terminals via pipelines where tanker trucks fill up to take it to the gas stations. With this being said, really the only difference in gasoline from one company to another is the additives that they put in the gasoline when they are loading tanker trucks.

:) I found the following to be of interest:

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

I have been using QuikTrip or chevron in all my vehicles.

I was amazed that Exxon/Mobil is not on list :!: :!:

Regards,

Top Tier is a name brand of detergent. Not a rating. Be like if I sold a product named "best hardware stores in america" and then sold it to Home Depot and listed them on my website. Its marketing smoke and mirrors and it seems to be working.

:?:  Why wouuld Chevron buy their additive since they already have the best, TECHRON!

I think the auto manufacturers are behind this classification.
