Alright.. The boat runs great 98% of the time, no problems. After weve been playing on the water for an extended period (maybe 4 or 5 hours) the motor wants to die in idle. Ive got to put in neutral, rev it up, then throw it in drive before it dies again. Then after driving it for 5 or 6 minutes straight at about 25 mph it runs great the rest of the day. Any suggestions? Im thinking something with the fuel- fuel filter, carb clean, things like this. Does this sound about what I should do? |

I think your headed in the right direction but could be an engine compartment heat issue. Try turning on the blower to get some cooler air to the engine. |

I agree...it does seem like a little vapor lock going on....running the blower may help, but I would check to see what condition the fuel lines are in and to see that they are not routed close to the engine. |

Check fuel lines, change filters and check the fuel vent to make sure its clear and see how that works. |

Agree on the fuel system concerns, I'd suggest doing the big water separating fuel filter and don't forget the small one at the carb inlet if it's a Rochester Q-Jet...When you change the water separating fuel filter if you can get a glass jar and pour the gas into that and let it sit, see if you wind up with a layer of water on the bottom. If so that could be your problem... |
