Is it normal for a 4.3 GL engine to use 1 quart of oil after about 20-25 hours of running. I normally run it at 3200 RPM constantly each outing for around 2-3 hours. After a couple of weeks, checked and it was low about 1 quart.

How old is the motor and what sort of oil are you using in it?

And, are you checking it with the boat in the same orientation (both on the trailer, both in the water, etc.)?

It's a 03 model and I've been using Volvo Synthentic 30w.

I've been checking with boat on trailer on a level parking lot.

How many hours on the engine? I would not consider that normal. Are you seeing or smelling smoke?

Around 700 hours on motor. Don't ever notice any smell or seeing smoke. Anyone else with an older engine that's also using oil?
