so I am pulling my boat out of the water last weekend for winter storage, no I was not able to sell it, and I am pulling down the river which I know is shallow, no rocks, just mud, so I tilt my drives up a bit at idle, and one comes up perfectly, the other comes up a tad but just stops, it wont go down or up. I hear no noise whatsoever when I push the button. I had the outdrives completely serviced last winter and the marina said everything looked great. They are going to haul the boat out today and take a look at it, but it almost seems like the power cut out, is there a fuse? Could it just be the switch? |

You should have two 50A circuit breakers hooked up to the hydraulic trim motor pumps. Check that first. There should also be two inline fuses connected to each trim pump that could be blown. Happened to me once this year too. Got some rain water in the trim switches at the helm, and blew the inline fuses when I pushed the trim up buttons. Easy fix. We heve Mercruiser power, and there are two seperate fuses at the pumps, as well as a breaker. |

Also, if your 99 model has the trim limiting switch (you have to activate the separate switch in order to fully raise the drive for trailering), your controller for this may be faulty (happened on our '97). In this case, just remove the two wires from the back of the switch and connect them together. |

And if all else fails, whack the pump with something like a hammer or 2X4.....believe it or not, it tends to work more often than not and, in addition, can be very satisfying! |

The marine called and said it was a pinched wire, although I think it was a tripped breaker and they just needed to charge me for something ![]() |
