This is a new one for me. I replaced shifter and throtle cables on my 2003 268 Vista with Volvo 5.7 and DP. Ran it all day Saturday with no problems. The new cables were well the money/Thanks for the advice! When I fired her up at the end of the day she ran fine. As soon as I touched the trim switch it died. If I let off the switch immediately it would continue to run fine. My first thought was I may have pinched a wire when reinstalling the shifter, causing a ground. I removed the shifter and moved the wires around, I also removed the top of the shift handle and checked the trim rocker switch. Did not notice anything out of order. Reinstalled everything and she ran fine all day Sunday. I am certainly glad that the problem disappeared, but worried that it may return later. Any ideas what may be the culprit?

Thanks!

Almost certainly a pinched wire. You really need to find where it was pinched at however so that you can either replace it or insulate it to prevent it shorting out again.

Also possible that you inadvertently knocked a connection loose while working on it. Might check that all your electrical connections near any area you were working are still secure.

Was your "Kill-Switch" integrated into the shifting assembly?
If not, I would hook up an amp and volt meter to the batt and toggle the trim. Maybe something causing batt voltage to drop low and cause the fuel pump or other shut-off. Could be a few things, but start with what was replaced recently. In my experience, that's where the problem usually resides.

Best of luck.
