Post subject:  Engine Diagnostics

I have been in search of a diagnostic system for trouble-shooting ignition, fuel and ECM issues in real-time. Anyone here have any useful information?

I have surfed the net, and searched a few other forums and found only these without breaking the bank. Any others I should know about or stay away from? Any info is good info!

Walt, it looks like you've done your homework. I think the only other type would be the factory tool. Likely made by Rinda anyway and cost way more. I'll talk to the folks at my dealership and see what they use. I would like to have something like this in my toolbox as well.

Ive used Diacom, the PC version on older stuff and newer stuff, it works great and works on just about everything.

Thanks B;
That seemed to be the only "worth-while" diagnostic tool I could find. Going with the hand-held unit. From reading other forums, I don't need the lap-top based unit. Only something to test the inputs/outputs, and maybe check the timing. Otherwise I am way over my head and need to spend the $$ to get the pro's on it!

EDIT.. Thanks for the responses, BTW. That gives me more confidence in my decision.
