I was wondering if anyone has purchased a remanufactured engine for their boat. I am looking for a reputable and trustworthy rebuilder. I found prices from 1400 up to 2200. Don't mind spending the money if it's a quality product but if it's good and less expensive why not. Some companies offer up to seven year warranties which sounds great to me but if they don't honor it or are difficult to deal with it's not really worth it to me. Any input is greatly appreciated. By the way that price range is for a 351 long block.

I'd do it, as long as it's from a reputable rebuilder with a long history, and the warranty covers marine use.

I am not sure who you are referring to, but Jasper is known well in the automotive world for being a decent rebuilder. They have a whole line of marine engines and drives available.

I have a Jasper engine in my boat....(5.7GM VDP) previous owner installed it in '05.....I bought the boat Aug. '08..... so far, so good....don't know the cost, but usually a long block like this goes for 2500?? + install.
