Just got my set of F5 props back from being tuned up and fixed some old dings. The F6 set I ran last year performed fine and are what came on the boat. The F5 are going to give me a bit more power out of the hole and lower my top end. I can spin both the F5 & F6 to my reccommended RPM range. I own a big block on purpose so I really am not counting my $$$ at the gas pump, but in light of $4.50+ gas where do we thing the best set up for me will be. Thoughts? Suggestions? |

All depends on how you use the boat, I think. That seems like a cop out answer, but if you can make recommended RPM's either way, and gas burn isn't going to be much different (my guess), then that just leaves the type of performance you want. |

Just to verify what my prop guy said....F5=More Power which I assume will be better holeshot, and more acceleration, and less top speed. The F6= better top end, lower RPM at cruise speed (better fuel burn?) If I look at what I just typed, if I'm going to spend my day on and off the gas - F5. If I'm going to run at cruise speeds for any long periods of time - F6. Guess I answered my question myself. Any body care to chime in? Am I on the right track? |

Yeah..... Who is your "Prop Guy" he could use some schooling. F6 is all you need on your boat. They were OEM for a reason. |

With a big block seems like you should have all the power you need at either end with the F6's. It seems like to me you would over rev on the top end with the F5's. Thats not the case? |

I was just going to say, I don't think you'll notice much difference either way. I'm a fan of staying with the OEM spec too, though the 240 is borderline between F5 and F6 IMO. |

I'm going to stick with the F6 for now. Later in the season I may put the F5 on to see if I like it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it right? |
