Just thought I would pass this along, ever since I bought our 318 last August, when trying to get up on plane there is a few seconds where the props cavitate. It was noticeable by the hesitation in jumping up on plane and by the noise it made, I always referred to it as the space shuttle taking off. ![]() Well over the winter a friend of mine wheo works at the FW dealer said there is an adjustment as to how far the out drives go down. Before I launched May 4th he came over and took a look. Where the trim cylinders attach to the out drive, you have to pull the pin and lower both cylinders, the hole in the drive is oblong, and there is a plastic spacer that makes the oblong hole round for the pin. This spacer can be in the forward position or towards the rear. Well mine was to the rear, and by moving it to the front of the pin allowed the drive to drop down another few degrees. We have had so much logs and crap in the river, I haven't been able to try it out until last weekend. It is surprising how much a few degrees can make. the cavitation is gone and it comes upon plane much quicker. Just FYI. |
