So, after changing the impeller and the t-stat and figuring out that I stacked an o-ring on top of an o-ring causing the engine to not suck water, I was finally able to get the boat out again this weekend. Took it out Saturday and it ran GREAT!!! The needle never budged and the temp was fine all day. Yesterday we took it to another location and I got about 300 yards from the boat ramp before the thing started overheating.

Today I started it on the muffs and it overheated again.

Today I checked for blockages and didn't find any, but I didn't pull the t-stat again, which I am thinking about pulling again and then running without it just to flush things out in there. If I can't figure this out soon, it will go back to the shop. This is so aggrevating.

Don't give-up!!! I think you are correct in removing the T-Stat and see what happens. If it still gets hot, you know it's not that.

I noticed water dripping from the bottom of the raw water pump, went ahead and replaced that and still having overheating issues.

My question is how does the engine alarm get its signal, is it from the guage, or a separate sender? Thanks.

Check the impeller again. You might find it damaged. Mine was overheating right off the ramp when the impeller was bad. The little leak in the raw water pump is the weeping hole telling you it is going bad.

If over heating with a bad impeller, Moving at speed will get the water flowing and cool it down, but it will crank back up in the no wakes. At least you can get back. I carry a back up impeller on board.

The new water pump came with a new impeller in it. My mechanic seems to think there is a chance that it is a blown head gasket, but I am not convinced of that.
