I have a 2004 Vista 288 with the 5.0 GXI-E engines. I am blowing the F3 fuse, located in the fuse block on top of the engine. This 15A fuse is labeled (Ignition/Fuse). Once I replace the fuse, the engine starts right up and runs fine. Anyone have this issue before and possibly know the cause? This only happens on the Port Engine.

Thanks

You have a short no doubt about it.

What conditions precipitate the fuse blowing?

Always occurs on start-up. When I turn the key to the port engine, there is usually 2 beeps. When the fuse is blown, I only get 1 beep. The engine will crank, but won't start.
I always start the Starboard engine first, then the Port.
I have owned the boat for 4 years and never had this problem until now.

After replacing the fuse, the engine starts and runs fine. The fuse has never blown while underway.

I cannot find a wiring diagram for the engine (Four Winns site only shows the vessel wiring) to see exactly what that fuse feeds. You need to see what that circuit feeds exactly, that may give more of a clue as to the cause. Trace the wire(s) if possible to see where they go. You may see a corroded connector or a frayed wire in your search.
