Everyone onboard, port engine fired up, starboard engine did nothing. I got the beep when I turned the key, but nothing turned over or even came close to firing. Just the faint sound of the key turning.

Dock mate pulled up and believes it's the solenoid. We were losing sunlight and decided to look in the morning. Anyone know where it's located on a 2000 - 298 Vista?

Oh yeah, we tried jumping it and nothing turned over. Frustrated it had to happen this weekend!

If it's a chevy, on the starter.

Check your battery terminals first, then look at the terminals on the starter solenoid. On a Chevy engine, the starter will be under the starboard side exhaust manifold, you'll see the solenoid with the wiring connected to it....
Make sure that your gearshift is actually in neutral, there is a neutral safety switch that will not allow the engine to crank if it's in gear, and also if there is a safety lanyard that has to be hooked up right too...

Thanks guys, it was the connections going into the starter. Not that I figured it out, but a friend recommended a mechanic to me. I called him and he said it would be a while before he came out, 25 - 35 minutes. I said I don't even get pizza delivered that fast! Thought that was pretty good for a Sunday and being July 3rd.

Anyway, he wiggled the wires pretty good and it started right up. Said they were loose and he'll come back this week and fix it better than just the "wiggle" way.

And only $60/hour. He didn't want to charge me anything for this simple fix, but I paid him anyway. I want to keep him on my good side!

Thanks all for the replies, and I did find the solenoid, once I stood on my head upside down!

Thanks buddy, had some more problem with that too once we were up and running. Hope you had a good weekend on the lake.

We just got home in time for the local fireworks and I can't wait to sleep in a real bed tonight! Work sounds relaxing at this point
