My boat seems to want to start missing and stall if I run 5mph for a long period of time. It also happend the other night when I was PATIENTLY waiting for the wife to back the truck down the ramp. (took a while). Does anyone have any ideas? I just had it serviced.

Thanks for the help guys....

Tony

The boat only has 71 hrs total on it. It has the 5.0 270hp fuel injected motor in it if that helps. Other than the random stalling after going slow for a 10-20min period of time, the boat runs great..

Possibly fuel vapor lock? Try running the blower during any low speed/idling and see if the fresh air in the engine compartment helps.

I would agree with the vapor lock theory. I've had occasional stalling issues with my 5.0 carbureted motor (also 2002). Seems to happen if I've been cruising for a while and then stop and sit for a few hours in the sun (fuel evaporation in the carb bowl or fuel line??). Scares the heck out of us, because the engine will start, and we'll take off and a minute later it stalls and takes a little convincing to get started again. Also could be fuel quality. I agree with the patient / blower method.

I had your same boat for years and could idle all day long with problems. It sure does sound like a fuel problem, or perhaps a vacuum hose leaking causing it to falter at idle.......(How old are the plugs? REALLY bad plugs might cause it to sputter at idle)

That's for the replies. I am going to replace plugs and any vacuum lines tomorrow. I will know on Saturday how it goes. Thanks again.

Not sure if the problem is gone but I went out this sat and never had the problem. I did run the blower whenever I idled or ran the boat slow.
Thanks for helping everyone.

Is there anything I can do the eliminate the vapor lock issue? Other than running the blower?

Thanks again everyone!
