If I plug the water inlet hose and keep it above the waterline, can I replace the exhaust manifolds and risers while the boat is in the water? Any other precautions? |

Risky, I just did mine in the driveway... If the raw water level comes up to the top of the Y pipe, and a boat comes by and throws a wake, then you could get a lot of water in the boat. I have done thermostats in the water plenty of times but manifolds I feel is too risky. Plus if you run into trouble with a rusted bolt how will you get it out of the water, to a mechanic, if it's taken half apart by then? Start with giving all the nuts n bolts a good soaking with PB Blaster or similar.... BTW make sure you drain the manifolds and risers before you take em apart or else water can run down the ex passage into the cylinder when you break the seal between the riser and manifold... |
