Question about sea water pump impeller location. I have a 2004 Horizon 200 Volvo Penta 5.0 GXI-E with an SX drive. I have been researching on the internet for drawings of where this impeller is located. From what I have determined it is located on the front of the engine and driven by the serpentine belt. Is there also an impeller in the lower unit? Thanks |

I'm not a Horizon guy, but, the impeller is usually located on the front of the engine, bottom pulley. Check the below link.... http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/vol ... -6574.aspx The outdrives usually don't have impellers, at least in my dealings with them. Hope this helps, good luck. |

Mercs I know, the Volvos I am still learning. BUT, if you look at the front of the engine, you can tell at a glance. Both Merc's and Volvo's have the standard (like a car) water pump driven by the belt. It you look farther down on the crank shaft, IF you see hoses and a housing. That would be your raw water pump and that impeller should be changed out every year or two. Depending on usage. If there is not one there, than I would "think" it is in the lower unit. Like an Alpha drive. |

NO impeller in a volvo drive, the impeller is either mounted at the bottom left side of the front of the engine, or on the crank pulley. |
