I've been out of boating for a while and was never close to being an expert anyway, haha. Thought I'd ask you guys with the experience. I recently bought a 1992 Fourwinns Sundowner 225 with a 5.8L engine and OMC Cobra outdrive. It's all stock and in great condition for the years. It has an aluminun 3 blade Michigan prop 15 x 17. What Stainless steel prop would you guys recommend?

Also, the outdrive came with these small plastic 2 piece hydrofoils on it. I see a lot about bigger hydrofoils and wonder if changing to a larger one of those is worth it? I don't want to go with trim tabs, just some simple upgrades like a better prop or bigger hydrofoil

sorry for the Newb questions and I appreciate any and all replies.
Thanks,
Mike

Have you looked at "smart tabs"?

Why the stainless prop ?

We have a 94 235 sundowner and I am going to get a 4 blade aluminum after talking to the prop companies at the Chicago boat show this past winter. It'll be less than half the cost of stainless, and will give me a little better fuel burn rate with minimal loss on the top end.

I looked at the smart tabs. And have a set on the way, I'll let you guys know if I see any difference between them and the hydrofoil.

You will, set them on the lighter settings first.
