So last Labor Day weekend one of my hydraulic lines on my AlphaOne cracked and I was leaking fluid, had to pull the boat and end our season early. I called around to a few dealerships and was quoted part for $75-90 even though online I found it for closer to $42-50, but they all wanted 2-2.5 hours of labor. Yikes! I'd read how to change it but wasn't comfortable doing it. Then a friend told me about a retired guy that owned one of the local marinas here in town. Nice guy. Told me to bring the boat over and we'd see if he had the part. He did, spent a bit of time as there was a burr that made getting the new one in the out drive. We talked as much as we worked, he's a character for sure. Got done and asked how much, said how about an even $100, I had that check written out before he finished. He even helped me to fill the tank with fluid and raise/lower the out drive.
Ready to hit the water this weekend... I hope.
