My 1994 OMC ( Ford 351 FI ) would not start yesterday. $#%#@ !! There was another post with a similar problem but I have a different engine. One of the Marina tech's took a quick peak and while they don't service OMC he could tell the fuel pump was not turning on, nor was there any spark. I went and got a new fuel pump relay and no luck, still just turns. All breakers fine ?

It worked fine last weekend

Though not even close in year, etc. I think my main engine CB (mounted on top of the motor) controls power to both of those items, but I believe the engine would still crank. It may be something simple like that or the safety lanyard/switch. I find it otherwise unlikely that both the fuel pump, and the ignition would be without power.

I agree! Sounds like maybe a bad wire or contact at the ignition switch, safety laynard/switch, bad connection at the 10 pin, ect. I would start checking the very basics before diving in head first with any parts replacement on this one!

Thanks and it was BASIC. Buddy who helped me with swim platform took the batteries out to access the far back transom area. Guess what, one of the positive wires did not get hooked back up. The admiral was so happy that was all it was. Thanks for your help

Was it a smaller (not main heavy gage) wire that was not hooked up?

It seems like I've ready a half dozen threads in the last few days about "extra" power and ground wires not getting connected directly to the batteries that cause issues.

I think I need to invent something to prevent this and then retire on my profits from it!

Thats the wire, probably a 14 gage or so, definately not the big on. Could not believe it. Towed the boat up and back to Lake Michigan, then back again on Sunday once I found it. Ate more gas towing than on the boat and was never more than 35 miles away....

It's called a "Terminal Strip". I've installed a few in my boats and others. Muy easier when troubleshooting issues! Especially if everything gets labelled and color coded when you do it!
