I am replacing my idler pulley and cannot find where to release the tension off the belt...am I blind? |

Do you have a "serpentine" or a "V" belt?. If you have a serpentine belt there should either be a bolt at an elongated hole to loosen and relax the tension, or more commonly a square hole in the idler bracket which will accept the end of a socket with some downward pressure releases the tension. If you have a V belt then typically you have to loosen the alternator. |

I have a serpintine setup. I do not see a place for a break over like a traditional truck or car. I have a 07 horizon if that helps. |

Does the idler have a bolt on the front?...do you have a picture? |

Yes it does! It's dark now but it seems like the last option. |

In many cases they omitted the square hole and used the large bolt in the center of the idler pulley as the release you just put a wrench on the bolt and turn it in the direction or the spring tension and it will release the tension on the belt. |
