My 99 Vista 258 (550 hours - 5.7L Volvo duo-prop) has never had a functioning trim gauge since I bought it (January 2006). I have the service records and it appears the trim sender was replaced previously by the prior owner about 5 years ago; I know they are a common failure part on the Volvo drives.

Is the trim sender something I can replace on my own? Whats involved?

It's pretty much covered in a message thread titled "VP-SX trim sender unit" started by Boatcrazy on 1st May.

Good luck!
