I was going through my 2005 Four Winns factory trailer for my 230 Horizon and noticed that the front actuator (The part of the tongue that moves in and out to actuate the trailer brakes), seemed loose.
The actuator rolls in and out on 2 rollers with grease fittings that are held in place by pins and snap rings and then some fancy cotter pins for extra safety on the right side of the trailer.
Upon close examination the snap ring on the front pin was loose and the pin was secured only by the cotter pin. If this had let go and both pins came loose the front of the trailer (actuator) would have separated from the rest of the trailer, pretty scary!!!!
I did a bit of research on the internet and found someone with a 2005 Tiedown trailer actuator with the exact same problem, and I also contacted Tiedown engineering and found out there is a technical bulletin on this. Tiedown sent me the new upgraded pins and I could only easily install the complete front assembly, but now the trailer should be safe.
