Why don't you borrow Firecadet's ?.... He's got his set up so a minicooper could pull a 268 !!!

Very nice!! Something like that is what my wife would love to have. She's been driving minivans for over 19 years now.

She'd probably feel Claustrophic in one of those!

Maybe, for about 2 minutes :P . It's not like she's had it too rough - for the last 6 years she's been driving brand-new fully loaded Honda Odysseys, which IMO are one of the most awesome vehicles on the road. But, they're still minivans ;) .

Just over 2 years ago, this happened to our '03 (which had 6 payments left on it at the time):

Image

Courtesy of an illegal who blew a red light at ~45mph (and then ran on foot). That day, I was really, really glad she was driving the 4,000# Ody, and not something smaller.

Sorry for the hijack Cap'n!

Thinking about making one of these, or something similar, my new tow vehicle. Thoughts? Will likely be used as my daily driver as well. '06 F250's King Ranch.

Think I've ruled out getting an older, less expensive tow vehicle to go along with a less expensive daily driver. Seems like 2 vehicles presents twice the headaches. Prefer to have one nicer one that will do it all. Been driving an Expy for 4 years so size doesn't really matter to me.

But, I do think height may be an issue with getting into my garage at work.

Cincy,

I have a similiar tow rig. It is posted on page 13. No four wheel drive though. It is the F-350 configuration. The truck you are considering will pull the boat with no problems. The beauty in the diesel is it makes all of its usable torque roughly below 2k rpms. That's just above idle. Amazing to me. I bought my boat in South Carolina and towed it back to Texas. At highway speeds I could not tell the difference between unloaded and loaded. No regrets.

I like it.... You will be happy for towing...... for daily driving? It will be ok as long as you do not have go into city every day..... It is a big truck....
I have another car to drive when I do not have to tow anything....

Go for it Bill. They are NICE trucks. That's on my wish list, I doubt Miranda will let me get it any time soon though.

But on to the tow vehicle.

Out with the old....
