Think I've ruled out getting an older, less expensive tow vehicle to go along with a less expensive daily driver. Seems like 2 vehicles presents twice the headaches. Prefer to have one nicer one that will do it all. Been driving an Expy for 4 years so size doesn't really matter to me.

But, I do think height may be an issue with getting into my garage at work.

Let me give you some fair warning about King Ranch trucks. They are very pretty, inside and out, WHEN THEY ARE NEW! That leather is NOT forgiving at all when it comes to water drops and just general care. Trust me on this. Go look at a brand new truck and then go find one that has 100K miles on it...if that leather isnt conditioned just about weekly...it will look like total garbage. I am in the car business and used to work for a Ford dealer.....seen it many times.

No kidding?? Not what I wanted or expected to hear. I thought this was the way to go because the leather is so much more durable then what they usually use. The "leather" pleather or whatever it is in my truck is CRAP. All the used ones have the same seam tear on the drivers seat.

I have had one Ford, one Jeep and two Nissans with leather. The Ford and Volvo (owned by Ford) leather was horrible. I take care of my leather seats. Jeep and the Nissans have been great. Not sure this says anything about the King Ranch, but they are pretty.

Capn...you know your yacht will not fit on my trailer

Trust me guys...King Ranch leather IS PRETTY...it just doesnt bode well in the long run.

My first inclination of this was when I sold Ford's. I was getting a brand new one off the line to drive a customer in. It was raining. As soon as I opened the door, a couple water drops dropped onto the leather seat. They left marks and I am sure that in time (weat/tear) they fade and the leather sort of matches it. Still, go to ebay etc...find a used one with some miles on it and take a look at the leather. Compare it to what a new one looks like....you will be unpleasantly surprised.

Take a look at this leather:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Kin ... ccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-F-2 ... sQ5fTrucks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-F-2 ... sQ5fTrucks

This one....only a 26K mile truck

All weather will show wear...no doubt about it, but the King Ranch leather just looks terrible to me.

Hey everyone I sold my Blazer this summer when I thought I was not going to have a job. I went out got a new tow vehicle last week. The body is a little rough but it runs great. The TBI 350 has way more power than that 305 did.

y thoughts on leather that does not look great in a used truck. If you pick up the vehicle for a good price you can always have it reupolstered. Even when you buy a new vehicle the dealer can have custom leather put in a vehicle for less than the manufactures upgrade/option price.

I drive an '01 F350 lareit, it has the ford leather seats (really leather looking naugahide). The king ranch has real leather.
Come on guys, leather wears, that shows character.
For aprox $800, you can have the interrier you want.

Todd, you've got yourself a collector's item! EFI, SFA, Manual x-fer case, manual hub locks. All things of the past for GM light duty trucks/SUVs. You should ALWAYS be able to get your money back out of that one.

Brent is right! You got a beauty. they are easy to repair and the parts are cheap and plentiful. Aftermarket is full of items to keep her going and looking good. I don't know what you paid but one in that condition would cost me $5-7K CAD. If I could convince the wife I would have one of these as a second vehicle.

Todd - By the photo's looks like you got yourself a bute! Looks very clean. I got a new tow vehicle myself. It's at the dealer getting an oil leak fixed under the remaining warranty, once I get it back I'll post some pic's up. Congrats to you!

Yo Steve - what are the specs on your truck, and what will you expect to get for it? I'd love to have an F250 as my tow vehicle/3rd car......

BTW, the aformentioned "Todd" post was another fellow, and he bought the Burb shown above. :)

Hey thanks guys. The suburban has been great so far. Like you all said parts are cheap and plentiful. As for price I paid 2000.00 for it. It has 160,000 miles so I am doing some small things to it, but it runs great.
