woggy718,

Its the weight difference and added length/placement of axles on the trailer of the 248 vs your old 225 that makes it more stable. The further back the axles are from the pivot/hitch point, the less sway you will feel.

Just to wrap this one up. I picked up the H230 with my 2001 f150 Supercrew and it towed great. I towed it home form the lake about 80 miles and it did not sway or bounce at all. It seemed very stable. I was very surprised how well it towed compared to my previous 19' boat. The tounge was pretty level once on the truck.

To give you a comparison My 2 friends share towing duty of out 2000lb snowmobile trailer so I can compare 3 trucks with the same trailer.

2001 Expeditoin 5.4 tows OK. Plenty of power but it bounces over bumps. Just a little unsteadyness. No concern though...
2001 F150 Supercrew 139"WB No bounce no sway.
2000 F250 Superduty Diesel No Bounce, no sway. ROCK SOLID but rides like a cement truck.

Glad to hear you are happy. I hope it is as steady under panic situations if and when that happens.

Tow safe.

Enjoy your new boat.

Just to update my original post. My 2001 Supercrew did great towing the 230 all summer. I used the factory class3 hitch with a triball mount rated at 10K capacity. Mostly short trips from storage to ramp but it did tow great on the highway the few times I brought it home.

I just sold the F150 and moved in to a 2000 Expedition 5.4. Almost identical drive train but it does shift differently and does bob up and down a little more with the softer suspension. You can tell the difference with the shorter wheelbase as well.

All in all it still tows great and feels safe. It will be even better with some new shocks and stiffer tires like F150.

You may consider some rear air bags on the Expedition just to help with the bobbing around. It will be adjustable and you can set it the way you need it for towing.

Airbags are a good idea and I am sure they would help quite a bit but if I didn't have the F150 to compare directly I would say it tows perfect. In fact it does tow quite well just not as well as the leaf spring f150. I will see how it does with new shocks. They are original at 145K so I would guess they are a little worn  The riser hitch should help a little too I would guess.

Plus I am cheap and would rather buy more speakers for the boat instead.... :D

You'll be able to compress those by hand......you'll for sure need new shocks. Highly recommend bilstein's. If you still need to eliminate any sag or bouncing try these http://www.timbren.com/ they helped me allot with my f150.
