Don't dream! I went from a '97 Sea Doo XP, to a '01 Sea Ray 185, to a '04 225 Sundowner, to a '04 268 Vista in 5 years.

That's alot of 2-foot-itis!

Which is cured for the next 10 years or so. I have no desire to be tied down to one lake only with a boat that must be slipped, and we can't afford something like a 318 for a while!

Well, put me on the list for trailer failure. Centering bolt on the RR leafs sheared letting all the support springs slide back so far the main leaf de-arched. '07 with less than 1,000 miles of use!

Brent - this guy was leaving my ramp yesterday. This is on a Roadrunner Trailer though. The leaf spring broker AT the center bolt. Good thing it was at LOW speed!

I wonder who Four Winns AND Roadrunner are getting their leaf springs from?

You patent a leaf spring that wont rust and you will never have to trailer a boat again. We broke 2 over the last 5 years. Alot has to do with trying turn the trailer around in a small area.

PLUS 100000000000...and yet another reason to take trailer maintenance serious.

It's been done. They call them torsion axles

Probably so!
For now, I'll replace the leafs. $19.95 in stock at a local trailer supply.

Switch to a torsion and you'll dream of leafs at night. Theres a reason boat trailers dont use torsion set ups. They snap like twigs when you push them anything over 30 degrees. PM workrelated on the other site he will tell you everything you need to know about trailers plus some, his company been building them for 30+ years and seen it all.

Smart idea for now. I know that here in Canada I would have to spend about $400 per axle to switch to the torflex ones. By the time you add fabrication, welding, paint, brake mods or rebuilds etc... You could easily be into a couple of thousand dollars. It's alot cheaper to just fix what FW gave you... However if you were looking for a new trailer it is something to consider.

Steve, or three.

Jole, I would look into that first before dropping that kind of $. Also, I have no doubt you have more experience around boats than I do. It just seems to me all the $80K wakeboats tend to have torsion axle trailers, as did my 10K lb toyhauler. Boatmate uses them as standard equipment. Again, I'm not trying to start any kind of debate, just seems to be an "upgrade" over leafs.

Brent - are you just replacing all the springs since you are already under there?
