Just picked up a new set of Carlisle RH tires. We'll see....

Discount Tire out here is doing a $100 rebate on a set of 4.

Which "Discount Tire" do you guys have in your locations? I've got about 6 different places called Discount Tire, all unrelated, and none of them stock the Carlisles.

Hercules trailer tires are installed. I got load range E for $120/tire installed. I'll post my review next weekend, I'm taking the boat to Crystal Beach on lake Erie, about 200km one way.

The tires were great, they ran alot cooler than the bias-ply. We did about 75mph there and back with no issues. I had them balanced, and the difference was immediately noticeable compared to previous unbalanced tires.

That's what I thought. Their closest store to me is about 600 miles away.

Can't seem to find any decent tire in the 225/75/R15 size. My Gladiators are bulging at the sidewalls, one burst on me already, and I've only had them 2 years.

Based on the search I just did, I'd say either Maxxis or the new Carlisles. They at least probably won't be any worse than 98% of the trailer tires out there now. Both should be available in that size.

Would you take the new Carliles over Marathons?

I'd take a brick with a hole in it over a new Marathon. Check out all the reports of the new ones not even being round.

Man is that an accurate statement. Bought 4 a couple years ago and didn't even get 2000 miles out of them - and that's including a 700 mile trip. 2 had belts separate, 1 just disintegrated, and the 4th did this:

Ironic this is that I was on the way to buy a new trailer when that happened. New trailer has Loadstar and they've been great.

Do most of you folks use tire covers when the trailer/boat is stored? I never have previously, but just picked up a set to try to protect my new tires from UV, etc when at rest. That, and I plan to be extra diligent about ensuring that I am running at 50 psi every time.

Yes...I use tire covers during the summer when the boat sits outdoors. I do not use them in the winter as the boat is indoors. But I do put jack stands under the trailer and get the tires off the ground. I run my tires at the full max of 65 pounds.

FWIW the tire shop that told me stick with D's was a local trailer shop that I didn't purchase from. Ended up getting another E.

Maybe should have got "D's" as recommended in an earlier thread.

No joke.

Goodyear dealer where I got the Gladiators took care of me. New Marathon today is $150 installed, I paid $75/each for the Gladiators 2 years ago. Charged me half price to replace them with Marathons....went with D's. Even switched out my spare Carslile that I had, with the same cracking sidewalls.

These will be covered while in storage...hopefully that helps a bit.
