Hi there.I have a 2007 H200ss sitting on a Four Winns dual axle trailer with hydraulic surge brakes. At the moment when I try and reverse even on level ground the trailer is locking up. I suspect there maybe an issue with the solenoid and will be having these checked out shortly. What I want to know does this model acutator (70LP) have some sort of manual overide so I can actually move the boat backwards. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

You should be able to put the tow ball locking pin into the hole on the side of the coupling to prevent it compressing and putting the brakes on when you reverse. |

Believe it or not, Tie Down's website is actually pretty good so you should be able to download your actuator's specs and such. I believe it also shows you how to override it for situations just like yours. Good luck! |

I have to use my override pin all the time, even with the reverse wire connected. It just doesn't like to move in reverse uphill or a lot of times on even ground without the pin. I have no problem reversing down ramps without the pin though fortunately. Been like this since day one. |

I know on the Tie Down model 66 there is a hole you can put the safety pin into to lock out the brakes. I have that actuator on my old 94 Load Rite. I stayed with drum brakes because I have heard of a lot of problems with the reverse solenoids not working with discs (but I bet that many of those issues are more bad grounds than anything else). The drums work well if you know the tricks to making them last in salt water. They actually brake better on lighter trailers than discs because they are self engergizing. |
