When the cloth bumpers wear on the trailer, what do you do to repair it? Do you replace the entire length or just the cloth? |

Alex, Do you mean the bunk boards or the side guides? Either way, the same tactics apply. You can order new bunk carpet from West Marine or any of the big boating supply shops and recover them youself, if the lumber needs replaced it's wulmanized(sp?) and available locally. Or you can buy precovered boards and pay a good bit more. If you choose to recover them yourself make sure you use stainless steel staples not regular home depot staples. |

Yes, the bunk boards. Thanks. Can you put the new on top the old or just remove the old and put the new on? I guess to totally remove the carpet, I'd get a good idea how the boards look. |

I would say remove the old carpet, look at the boards and determine if they are good then put on the new carpet |

When the time comes to replace my carpet, I'm going to replace the bunks (regardless of condition) with ones about 2" longer on the back. |

Where do you get the bunk boards? Are they something special from a marine store or can I go to Home Depot and get some treated wood? |

"Wolmanized" is actually a brand name and it's just pressure treated wood. You can get ground-contact or pressure treated wood at Home Depot. I modified my side bunks when my Funship was gouged by exposed metal. Upon disassembly I noted several things, one of which was the lack of anything stainless steel. You can see my thread with photos here: http://www.ifourwinns.com/forum/viewtop ... light=bunk FW used everyday steel staples and mine had rusted badly. They also used zinc-coated bolts which were started to oxidize and rust. These parts are considerably more expensive to use which is why, I'm assuming, non-stainless parts were used. |
