With the proper hitch an Envoy can tow 5300lb. A 238 is 4500 plus trailer etc. Should be fine if you live on flat land. If you're going to do it a lot add a big trans cooler

I have an '04 'voy with the same engine. My boat and trailer hit the scale at about 4700 lbs. It's fine, even on hills is OK. Fuel consumption jumps considerably about 75 mph due to drag. I don't like to tow further than I have too for that reason (ie LoTO), but my normal ramp is only 7 miles from the house.

you shoud be just fine, my friend has a 2004 Stingray 240cs which weighs slightly more than a 238 and he used an Envoy with no problem.

I use my 2009 Tacoma(4.0 supercharged) for my 238 with an aluminum trailer and my boat is always fully loaded with fuel, gear, water, etc....with no problems at all.
I only travel about 6 miles to the ramp

Welcome Zif! We need pictures please.

Here are the 238 specs from Four Winns fast Facts book.

Looks to me like it totals out at 6168 lbs with boat, engine, trailer, battery, fuel and accessories.

I wonder if I can sell a 23ft boat to my HOA, it's only 1 foot bigger than the rules.

The crapparal can make me nearly 5k profit, couldn't pass that up. I like it don't get me wrong but I'm not going to rest until I own a Vista.

thanks guys, i guess i needed that little reassurance before i hooked her up. i have done quite a bit of towing of lighter weight boats in the past. i just don't want to end up on you tube w/ my rig in the water at the launch.
thanks again

I've found a few tricks to towing boats close to the limit (this more so when I towed with my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 six)
What I added:
Bilstein monotube high pressure gas shocks
Air Lift air bags in the rear coils
LT C rated tires
B&M Supercooler for the auto trans.

My 07 Jeep eventually will get the Bilsteins and the air bags too.

I also like Wagner brake rotors and Wagner Thermoquiet pads.

The air bags REALLY help with the tongue weight and these medium duty SUVs tend to have very soft coil springs for a good ride, not so good for carrying loads.
