Post subject:  Quick bearing grease question.?

I was at Autozone today and the Marine grease they were selling
had a message that it wasn't supposed to be used with disc brakes.
Why would that be? heat? I don't remember ever seeing that before.
I got the Lucas Oil Red stuff instead.

Yep, heat.

Anything specified for discs should be fine. I use Mobile 1.

Find a marine grease suitable for disc brakes, with a higher melt point.
Marine grease has a significant amount more anti-oxidants (rust preventatives) than conventional grease.

Disc brakes do run somewhat hotter than drums because the surge system is going to have them going on every time you slow down.
