I have a 298V and want to haul it out and block it up to do some work on it. A club member has a trailer big enough for the boat but will my 5.6L Titan 4x4 be able to handle the job? Trailer and boat have a combined weight of 12,000 lbs or so and only need to go about 75 yards total. Titan has GVWR of about 7,000 lbs. Is this asking for major trouble or has anyone been able to do something like this?

It should work if you are careful, and on a rare occasion. I would recommend using 4W low range and take it easy. The back of the truck will probably ride low, depending on tongue weight. I would definitely not tow any distance with it.

Your Titan should be in the 8500-9000 lbs tow capacity range. My Frontier has a 6500 lbs tow capacity and I used it to move a buddies sailboat/trailer that came in at about 8000 lbs. No problems. For the short distance you are going, you should be fine. If you can keep the boat "centered" on the trailer or maybe even a little bit to the rear, that way you keep the big weight off the tongue.

I was able to get a club member with a F250 diesel 4x4 to haul it out and all went well. I need to get it blocked up quick because it turns out we don't even know which member the trailer belongs to!! Oh well.
