I somewhat resemble those pics.
My first boat was a 23' Sail, weight of about 3500#. My tow truck was a '90 Ford Ranger with a 4-banger. I pulled that boat from Connecticut to KC and back one Spring. No trailer brakes, and only the bumper mount hitch to boot! Not quite as bad as the S-10 Jimmy/5th wheeler, but almost as dumb.
