Post subject:  Tongue Weight

I have a H200 Frenzy 2008 model. I bought it new in 2010, left over stock. It came with the 4 Winns trailer. My local ramps are no more than 10 mies away and I do have a 5inch raised ball on the back of the SUV. Never had a problem, just a little sag. After reading an article in DDTrailers about tongue weights I am sure I am well over the 400lbs that I thought the trailer would have been designed with. This the site I used. https://www.doubledtrailers.com/scripts ... lator.html. I have the Toyota Highlander rated at 5000lb tow and the boat and trailer are just about 3800lbs. There is 6 foot from the trailer single axle to the rear of the boat. With the boat being 20ft. Any solutions apart from buying a new trailer. Thanks Ray

The tongue weight on four winns trailers are listed to be between 5 and 10 percent of total boat and trailer weight.

In short...your 3800 lb load should be no more than 380 at the tongue.

I think you should be fine as long as your hitch is rated for the 5k...its cutting it close but should be fine.

Thanks for the response. It's a U haul hitch with the heavy duty tranny cooler. It's been ok for 8 yrs but I read the info on the doubledtrailer site and as concerned.
