212 miles round trip through the Adirondack mountains. 03 Dakota towing Horizon 200, tandem axle trailer w/ surge brakes. Felt confident the entire way and the 4.7L did the inclines in 3rd gear (manual trans) with the A/C on no problem. Probably going to take this truck (without the trailer obviously) on a 730-mile ski trip soon. Wish me luck! |

I do 20 mile round trips. My durango to the landing with the boat. 318 4wd it has no problem with the 170 horizon. I press the tow haul button don't downshift pulling the hill out of the river valley. I never pulled the boat with the tahoe yet. Boat matches the durango better. Picture I was getting ready to pull the covers off you know the pre inspections.

Usual tow is around 90 miles one way. The better lake is close to 160 miles one way. The travel here is pretty much all flat and straight though. |

Our annual trip from NW Indiana to Spanish Ontario aka The North Channel is a 1,096mi round trip! We used to leave early in the morning like 2-3am but with a toddler we now find it easiest to just leave at his bedtime and drive through the night with rest stop naps if needed...luckily Michigan has really nice rest stops! We have done this tow 6 out of the last 7 years with a 2007,2010, and 2018 Toyota Tundra's all with zero issues. We have decided to tow exclusively next year(planned on it last year but chickened out last minute) so we are expecting to put on some serious tow miles. I have my fingers crossed for a Hemi option in the 2022 Dakota, but I won’t hold my breath. Yours looks to be in amazing shape. |

Bliss36....i have to ask...what mpg do you get pulling Noahs Ark? I get about 7 to 8 with my truck pulling the h210 and I live in garlands. I'm addume you have the 5.7 in the Tundra which what I have in the Ram. |

We tow the 268 Vista with a 2011 Chevy 3/4 ton extended cab essentially every summer weekend 20 miles each way to the Mississippi River in the Minneapolis area. The truck is a 6.0L 6-speed automatic. We've made 4 trips since 2012 from the Minneapolis area to Bayfield, Wisconsin for a week in the Apostle Island area of Lake Superior. This is a 250 mile trip each way either on Interstate I-35 (70 mph speed limit) to Duluth then east to Bayfield, or through Wisconsin on state or county roads (mostly 55mph). Fuel economy on the road is usually 7.5 to 8 mpg towing, and between 12 and 16 otherwise, depending on speeds and other conditions. The 268 Vista is 8' 6" wide, so legal width on almost all roads in the US. With gas, water, and all the stuff that might be loaded for a weekend or longer on the water, our total boat/trailer weight can go over 10,000lbs. It can feel like the tail is wagging the dog at times, but I will say that the boat tows well and doesn't really have any bad habits. Four Winns boat and trailer packages do well in this category. We have higher costs (tow rig and gas costs) to tow the boat to the water every weekend than if we drove a smaller vehicle to a slipped boat in a marina, but we feel this is more than offset by saving about $1.25 per gallon by fueling the boat in town and not having the marina slip fees. We also have the boat at home where we can work on it or load it for the next trip. We pay a relatively reasonable launch fee and parking fee to leave the truck and trailer there while we are gone. We feel that launching and loading our Vista at the ramps we use is a 2-person job. We are able to drive the boat off and on to the trailer at the marinas we use. The previous owner put a 2-speed winch on the trailer. That makes a big difference at times. We also use our cell phones and blue tooth headsets as an intercom system while loading. This is similar to some of the "marriage-saver" intercom systems that some cruisers use. This makes a huge difference because we can keep our voices at a normal volume level while getting the boat on the trailer and there are times she (at the helm) cannot see me hooking up the winch and asking for a little push while I am cranking the winch. I have heard of or witnessed too many examples of raised voices and "less than productive" dialog at the boat ramp. I am a firm believer in getting the other family members involved in driving the boat and being comfortable with handling it. Enabling a positive outcome is well worth it for the sake of your relationship and for the wellfare of the boat. |

I give you guys a lot of credit to trailer your boats that much. Here in congested Long Island it is a major pain. Any boat I own, has to be able to stay in the water. I live 5 min from the harbor where we keep it moored and while my boat gets a lot of salt water wear and tear, it saves my tow vehicles. Ultimately I should have an outboard but due to other financial constraints I have stuck with the old I/O which I am lucky to have the ability to keep going myself. But when the time comes for sure it will be an OB, since towing here is just too much of a nuisance for boating to be fun. |

Longest tow, was the ride home after purchase, 875 miles one way. 1 hour the first night, slept at a rest stop, and then 15 hours the next day. Drove great, never was unconfortable, trailer built for the task, no issues getting things slowed down, and going through the mountains, we were still passing Semi's.. lol Tow to the Ozarks semi regularly (280+ miles), and try to get one trip away from the home lake once a year.

Once a year we make a 900 mile round trip to Dale Hollow Lake, TN. Taken both our old 1993 Horizon 190 single axle, and our 2008 H200 tandem behind a 2014 F150 Screw 3.5L Ecoboost and 2016 F150 Screw 3.5L Ecoboost. Typical haul for us on the weekends is 130 mile round trip to NE Indiana lakes. |
